Upcoming Performances on the Summer Stage
Summer engagements include a return appearance with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchestra at the Audi Summer Festival, conducting a performance of Gounod’s Romeo and Juliette, featuring German soprano Simone Kermes and French tenor Jean-Francois Borras on July 7th; as well as rejoining the NDR Orchestra for its annual open air opera concert on July 22nd, a live-televised performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto, starring American soprano Nadine Sierra, tenor Stephen Costello, and French baritone Ludovic Tezier; and the annual special summer concert of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra on August 19th, where the part-Icelandic Ms. Wilson will conduct an all-Russian program of Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky.
New AIDA at the English National Opera
Ms. Wilson returns to the English National Opera in the fall for an extensive run of a new production of Aida, directed by Phelim McDermott, that opens on September 28th and concludes on December 2nd. This follows her successful debut with the ENO several seasons ago when Ms. Wilson conducted an acclaimed new production of Fanciulla del West, directed by Richard Jones. The Aida cast includes American soprano Latonia Moore in the title role, Welsh tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones as Radames, and American mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung as Amneris.
In between performances of Aida, Ms. Wilson will be conducting two performances of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in early November.
